Leadership
Leadership is both the key and the foundation to a successful low or no paper environment. Without a strong and enthusiastic leader your team will end up with some great software that they could use to go paperless, but no one to support and guide them through that process.
Partners must be involved at all key stages of implementation. It is unreasonable and unrealistic to expect your staff to participate, contribute to and maintain a system that does not have the support of the partners – and support means following the same processes as the rest of the team.
It is also impossible to succeed in the paperless journey if you have enthusiastic team members who are willing and able to contribute to the process, but who are not given the authority to implement. Be prepared not only to share the responsibility, but to share the authority.
Great leadership is ‘walking the talk’ – embracing and utilising the tools and procedures that the staff use to build the paperless office.
